The Woman Behind the Brand

My name is Shanna Gaona. I'm a retired Marine Corps Staff Sergeant, a mother, an entrepreneur, and a lifelong student of healing. I've spent years learning what it means to show up — for my country, for my family, and for myself.

The Marine Corps taught me discipline, intention, and the power of a consistent practice. Every morning, every ritual, every small act done with purpose adds up to something greater. That philosophy never left me — it just found a new home in skincare.

Why I Created Veil & Root

For years, I searched for skincare that felt as meaningful as it was effective. I wanted products that honored the skin I was in — not just covered it up. I wanted formulas rooted in nature, backed by intention, and worthy of the time I was giving them.

I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. So I created it.
